  • Kelly J. Cummins-Brown, DVM

My name is Kelly Cummins-Brown and I was born and raised in a New York City suburb in New Jersey.  I received my bachelor degree in Neurobiology/Animal Physiology from Purdue University in 1994.  After graduation, I worked several years as a zoo keeper for the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.  I attended veterinary school at the Ohio State University and did my preceptorship with a board certified exotic animal specialist in Milford, Ohio.  I joined the Animal Care Center in July 2000, and purchased the practice in January 2007.  My family and I share our home with a domestic shorthair (Zeke), a labradoodle (Ginny), a Hahne's macaw (Isa), a rabbit (Paisley), and numerous fish.  My special interest areas are exotic animal medicine/surgery and soft tissue surgery.  I spend a lot of my free time volunteering for the Girl Scouts of Southern  Illinois.

  • Brian Brown

My name is Brian Brown and I am married to Dr. Cummins-Brown.  I received my BS from Purdue University in 1993, and my MBA from the University of Georgia in 2001.  As practice manager, you probably won't see me much during office hours.  I do a lot of work behind the scenes.  I have a day job at Nestle, but my evening hours are spent processing the books and payroll for the Animal Care Center.
  • Garfield

Hi, my name is Garfield.  I have been at the Animal Care Center since July 2006 when the girls found me in a cage at the back door.  It was love at first sight!  They couldn't agree on who would take me home, so the Animal Care Center became my permanent residence.  This way all of the staff would have the pleasure of loving me.  My favorite part of my job, as a clinic cat, is all of the attention I get from the girls as well as the clients, and greeting everyone who walks through the doors.  My specialty is grief counseling.
  • Clark

I ended up at the Animal Care Center as a tiny kitten that fit in a palm.  A good samaritan brought me in as a passenger on a motorcycle, wet and having seizures.  Dr. Cummins-Brown took me in and fixed me up.  After all of the time she spent on me, she was too invested emotionally to adopt me out.  So, now I spend my days chasing coworkers, running through the halls, and generally wrecking havoc.  I'm ashamed that my good looks may be what really keeps a roof over my head!

How you doin'?!  I came through the Animal Care Center on a whim.  Little did I know that I got signed into fat cat camp against my will.  They tell me I'm doing great, but I'm about ready to move on out of here!  I love warm laps, soft pets, treats, canned food, dry food, soft treats, hard treats, chicken, cheese... ooops, there I go again.  I'm trying to be better.  I really would do well following my new food plan, as long as I can sleep in bed with you.  Would you be willing to share your life with me and "swipe right?"
